Jeff Hoover is in race for Lt. Gov on ticket headed by Northup

Rep. Jeff Hoover, Jamestown, who is the attorney for the Adair County Board of Education and maintains an office next to the Adair Annex on the Square in Columbia, KY, is now a candidate for Lt. Governor on a ticket headed by former U.S. Representative Ann Northup of Louisville.

Besides the Northup/Hoover ticket, the Republicans also have tickets composed of Gov. Ernie Fletcher and Robbie Rudolph, and Billy Harper, running with Dick Wilson.

Dismantling of the The Dr. L.C. Nell home, Gradyville, KY.

On Sunday, January 14, 2007, the Scott Bros.--Gary and Tony-- began the dismantling of the Dr. L.C. Nell home in Gradyville, KY.

Materials were and are being offered for sale, the brothers said. They expect the house to be on the ground in two weeks.

Three vehicle injury accident on N. 55 this morning

A three-vehicle injury accident occurred one mile north of Columbia on KY 55, the Campbellsville Road, at approximately 8:50am CT.

James Scott, 34, Arden, NC, was operating a 2001 Oldsmobile travelling southbound on KY 55 when his vehicle was struck by a 1999 Chevy driven by Sara Coomer, 21, Columbia, KY. The Coomer vehicle then spun and struck a vehicle operated by Catherine Sword, 49, Hamilton, OH.

Health department has surplus of flu vaccine

Adair County Health Department is participating in program which offers chances on to win $500 in free groceries to those getting vaccinations at offices. $4,000 in free grocery prizes in 10-county area. Department says cases already occuring in area

There is plenty of flu vaccine available. In fact, the Lake Cumberland District Health Department, which includes the Adair County Health Department, located in the Salato Building at 802 Westlake Drive in Columbia, KY, has a surplus of flu vaccine this year and will be offering chances to win free groceries in an effort to get more people to get the vaccinations.

LWC announces Spring 2007 Cultural Affairs Schedule

Events in series celebrate cultural and social diversity

COLUMBIA, KY -- The world's cultural and social diversity will be celebrated in Lindsey Wilson College's spring 2007 cultural affairs schedule.

This semester's events -- which are free and open to the public -- include several musical performances, readings by Kentucky authors , and speeches on ethical issues. In addition, art works will be displayed in the Lucretia C. Begley Gallery.

State of County, State of City addresses in February

The Adair County Judge State of the County and the Mayor's State of the City addresses, traditionally delivered at the January regular Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce meeting, was rescheduled this year for February.

The addresses are scheduled for Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at the luncheon meeting which begins at 11:45am in Cranmer Dining Center on the Campus of Lindsey Wilson College.

Terri N. Boschee ordered to jail

Terri N. Boschee was ordered to Adair County Regional Jail by Circuit Judge James G. Weddle on Tuesday, January 16, 2007.

Boschee was arrested by Kentucky State Police on November 9, 2006, after a child showed up at WHVE radio station on KY 80 and accused his aunt (Boschee) of child abuse, including withholding food.

Yesterday, Judge Weddle held Boschee in contempt of court when she appeared without a lawyer, and ordered her incarceration.

Dr. Goatley to speak at CU Black History Month convocation

Foreign missions leader is key leader of Baptist World Alliance

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Dr. David Emmanuel Goatley, executive secretary-treasurer of the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention, formerly of Campbellsville, will be the guest speaker at a Black History Month Celebration at Campbellsville University Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 10am ET.

The event, which is the Wednesday morning chapel/convocation service for CU, will be at Campbellsville Baptist Church. The public is invited.

Grant remains incarcerated in the Adair County Regional Jail.
