Archery in Schools, Elvis the raccoon dog, on Kentucky Afield

Frankfort, Ky. - With more than 600 Kentucky elementary, middle and high schools participating in the National Archery in the Schools Program, more kids are looking forward to owning their first bow. This weekend, January 13 and 14, "Kentucky Afield" follows one lad and his dad on the hunt for bow shooting and buying advice.

Kick off Relay 2007, held last night, Monday, January 8, 2007, at the Chamber of Commerce Building, was a great success! The crowd estimated at approximately 39 people which consisted of team captains and committee members.

Martin Jones, consultant for the Columbia Adair County Industrial Authority (CACIDA), announced today that he will go the the West Coast next week on business for the authority.

Jones made the announcement the authority's regular January meeting over a Pizza Hut pizza and Coke lunch, in business meeting at the Chamber of Commerce building, Wednesday, January 9, 2007. The meeting ran from 12noon to approximately 12:50pm.

Adair Middle School teacher outstanding SE US education graduate

Rachel Genakos is third consecutive LWC graduate to earn honor

An Adair County Middle School Teacher has been named the outstanding education graduate in the Southeast United States.

Rachel Genakos recently received the Professional Development Award from the Southeastern Regional Association of Teacher Educators. The award is given to the outstanding education graduate from colleges and universities in the 15-state education association.

TODAY, TUES., Jan. 9, 2007: Snow closes Casey & Russell schools

Snow hadn't hit here at 7:34am today, but two neighboring school districts, Casey and Russell, are reported closed
Events in brief for 9th day of 2007 (356 days remaining)
  • The Columbia-Adair County Industrial Development Authority meets at noon.
  • The Columbia Planning & Zoning hearing on the annexation of KY 61 from Petty's Fork to the LBN/Cumberland Parkway, including Holladay Place (Wal-Mart), is at 6:00pm in City Hall. Mayor Bell thinks the hearing, and the annexation process, will go smoothly.
  • The Jaycees meet at 7:00pm
  • Adair Fiscal Court has a big January agenda for its meeting at 7:00pm tonight.

Entertainment today: Charlotte's Web and Deck the Halls are playing at the Columbian Theater

KSP arrests two men for stealing Tomahawk Missile parts

  • Parts machined at Summa Technologies in Lebanon
  • Two Campbellsville men arrested following 7-hour investigation
  • KSP says investigation is ongoing, with more charges to follow

Trooper Clint Walker of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, arrested two Campbellsville men on Monday for the theft of 21 base plates machined for the Tomahawk Missile in Marion County, KY.

At approximately 9:00am, Monday, January 8, 2007, Trooper Walker received a complaint that a theft had occurred at Summa Technologies in Lebanon, KY. When he arrived, the safety and quality manager at the plant told him that the base plates had been stolen.

Driver injured in accident on Bull Run Road

A single vehicle accident on Bull Run Road, resulted in the driver being admitted to Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia. A seat belt was in use.

The accident occurred at 10:30pm, last night, Monday, January 8, 2007.
