Crusade for Children total up almost $2,000 for 2006!

Nearly $2,000 more was raised in 2006 for the 53rd Annual WHAS Crusade for Children in Adair County than the 2005 Crusade.

It was another outstanding year for Adair County. A total of $35,942.90 was turned in at the final event at Adair County High School. Last year, the total was $34,035.93, Dennis Loy, chairman of the drive, reported.

2006 Crusade: Bradley Caldwell reads names



2006-06-03 - Adair County High School - Photo Staff Photo. BRADLEY CALDWELL of the Columbia Adair County Fire Department read individual donor names while the WKYU-Tv camera rolled and Chris Allen held the mike. Over his shoulder can be seen Columbia Policeman Josh Brockman. The scene was soon to be stolen by the kids, who got to dump red buckets of coins into the money box.

Jason Harmon sends history inspired by Maggie Murphy painting

Jason Harmon does some deeper research on the issue of the The Page House/The Page Home. He also traces some of the interesting history of Columbia's two historic funeral homes

Oh, I just couldn't resist digging around into that Page House story. I know you post historical things like that just to keep me busy for a few hours. Oh well, I love it!

I was *thinking* that the Grissom Funeral Home was the Old Elijah Creel Home. His brother Elzy Lived in the home. It later became the James T. Page boarding house. It did burn down, but it is the site of Grissom Funeral Home.

Adair County ATV accident late last night results in injury

Rider, Jason Hatcher, treated at Columbia hospital, then flown to Louisville

GOOD NEWS: An update from Tammy Gosser, dispatcher at Post 15, Columbia, KY, at 1:33pm, Saturday, June 3, 2006, reports that Mr. Hatcher has been released from the hospital.
An ATV accident late last night, Friday, June 2, 2006, at 10:25pm (2225 hours) resulted in injuries to Jason Hatcher, 31, Columbia, KY.

The accident occurred three miles south of Columbia, KY, on the Billy Neat Road, at its intersection with Jones Chapel Road.
