Tulip tree blossoms on KY 76, Millerfield, Adair CO, KY



2006-05-18 - Millerfield, Adair CO, KY - Photo Linda Waggener. The blossom looks like a tulip, and it is on a tree by the side of the road in Millerfield, KY, so we would call it a tulip tree.And so does Frank Dickerson, who wrote, Frank DickersonThanks for another great photograph, Linda! The Tulip Poplar is the Kentucky State Tree. Lirodendron tulipiferaor tulip poplar a fast growing large shade tree that can grow 15 to 20' over a 6 to 8 year period. As a specimen tree on a large property it has great beauty and in fall can be spectacularFRANK DICKERSON, San Mateo, CA, currently, but an Adair Countian always. And we noted earlier, the bloom is beautiful up close, even if not spectacular from a distance.

Funeral service for Tony Grider will be Sat, May 20, 2006 at noon

Mr. Grider was a devoted member of the Adair County Rescue Squad and a board member of the organization. He was Constable in Adair County District 4.

Keith Tony Grider, 50, of (the Sparksville Community) 1534 Sparksville-Fairplay Road, Coumbia, KY, died suddenly on Wednesday morning, May 17, 2006, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident 2.5 miles south of Columbia on KY 61 South.

The funeral service will be Saturday, May 20, 2006, at 12 Noon at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Watson and Bro. Ralph Foster the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Harvey Cemetery at Sparksville, KY.

The family requests visitation after 4pm on Friday, May 19, 2006, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.

Deputy Sheriff Corbin arrests E-town man on drug-use charges

Adair County Deputy Sheriff Tommy D. Corbin arrested Bobby L. Grayson, 27, 300 Hickory Lane, Elizabethtown, KY, 10pm, Wednesday, May 17, 2006.

Grayson was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, possession of a controlled substance, and prescription drugs not in the proper container.
