Congratulations to those honored

from SHEPHERD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The Adair County Board of Education held a special called board meeting to honor students, groups, and teachers on Thursday, March 30, 2006.

The list of outstanding accomplishments is long. The schools will be presented on ColumbiaMagazine.com individually. Other schools will be presented, one at a time, shortly.

This list is for the last year of Shepherd Elementary School. It was sent to us by Principal Alma Rich, and is presented here. Shepherd School boasts a long tradition serving one of Adair County's truly unique regions, producing outstanding graduates who will always remember the warm, nurturing principals, teachers, and staff and the wonderful friends they made at Shepherd Elementary School.

MEMORIES OF KNIFLEY GRADE CENTER: The last class 2006



2006-04-05 - Knifley, Adair CO, KY - Photo Ed Waggener. HISTORIC GROUP at Knifley Grade Center. This is the last glass which will ever attend Knifley Grade Center. Next year, the students will transfer to school on the Adair County School District Main Campus in Columbia. The students have great memories of the school, which will be carried, along with historical material supplied by Donald Knifley over the next few days. This list is for the Knifley Grade Center was sent to us by Principal Robbie Harmon, and is presented here. The group has added distinction in this, the last year for an institution and a community with a rich history of accomplishment. Congratulations to the school, the students, groups and teachers.

This year, there are so many exciting things happening within the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce. A couple weeks ago on Chamber Chats, Ron Heath, a board member representingLindsey Wilson College discussed Wares Fair which will be taking place justafter school begins for the fall semester. This will be a great opportunityfor Chamber members to display their products to the entire student body andthe facility at LWC.

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville University will host the second Baptist Heritage Lecture Series, featuring Dr. Morgan Patterson, renowned Baptist educator and scholar-in-residence at CU, Monday, April 10. Patterson will speak on Baptist distinctives at the event at 7 p.m. in the Little Auditorium of the Student Union Building. The event is free and open to the public.

Two fires.Firemen are able to contain blaze at Dr. Herrera's office, with only moderate damage. Fire on Oak Grove Road contained to garage

Sheriff's office reports arrest in stolen property receipt case

Adair County Deputy Sheriff Tommy D. Corbin has arrested a Columbia, KY man alleged to have received stolen property over $300 in connection with a burglary that occurred on Greensburg Road.

All the stolen property was recovered, Corbin said.

Melvin Meece died too young to fulfill his dream of owning his own business. But with his passing, that entrepreneurial spirit came alive in his son, Chuck, and today the 37-year-old is living the life his father only dreamed of and passing that spirit on to his own children.
