The location of the First Responder Class will be held in the basement of the EMS building on across the road and east of the local hospital on Westlake Drive in Columbia, KY.

State Police looking for escapee from Marion prison

33-year-old, 155 pound white male, with brown hair and eyes, tattoos, is known to use many aliases
The Kentucky State Police is investigating an escape from Marion Adjustment Center in Marion County.

At approximately 9:20 a.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2006, guards discovered that Frederick H. Purcell, JR, was missing from the facility.

Mr. James Carroll Draper quite likely holds the all-time record for the longest time away from Adair County before coming back to the auld sod for a visit.

Mrs. Ethel Farris Scott was my chemistry teacher at Adair County High.

One of my favorite stories about Mrs. Scott was her introduction to college physics at, I believe, Western Kentucky.

The Adair Arts Council is looking for project managers

If you agree that Adair County needs to help its children to stay away from drugs and enrolled in healthy, challenging activities, one contribution you can make is to get involved in building a strong foundation in the arts.
The Adair Arts Council is recruiting Board Members interested in managing project development in any one of twelve areas of the arts: Painting, Folk Arts, Literary Arts, Science, Crafts, Sculpting, Media, Writing, Dance, Acting, Music and Presentation.

Adair CO Fiscal Court regular meeting report: March 14, 2006


In answer to question from Magistrate Terry Farris, Adair County Court learns what happened to the $86,000 Industrial Authority Spec Building.
$828,000 in blacktopping approved. Old English spelling mandated for Sandy Fourk Road. Rogers dissents on resolution supporting Somerset bio and ag lab. Debra Shaw is hired as director of animal shelter. Judge Pro Tem Harris presides.

In last night's Adair County Fiscal Court meeting, the court was told what happened to the $86,000 spec building which the court had approved for the Green River Commerce Park.

"We got about 1/3 of a building," Martin Jones, the recruiting consultant for Columbia-Adair County Industrial Authority, said.

I'll make roses bloom in January! - COY "SQUARE DEAL" DOWNEY, running for Mayor of Columbia in 1979, back before global warming, back when elections were held in odd years, and back when politics ranked next to basketball in the hearts of the people. Roses didn't bloom in January, but the Dogwood program the colorful Mayor spearheaded then now provides much of the spectacular annual beauty we'll enjoy a few weeks hence.
