Adair County wins First Place PRIDE Award for October 2005 cleanup

Trophy is for Counties in Class 2, based on population. Other counties receiving First Place trophies were Owsley, Johnson, and Laurel
Adair County Judge Jerry Vaughan and Adair County Solid Waste Coordinator A.L. Sinclair accepted the First Place Trophy for counties in its class for trash collected in the October 2005 cleanup drive.

Celebration of the life of Ivy R. French, 71, is Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006

She was a member of Columbia Christian Church, administrator of the Adair County Food Pantry, and was employed at the Bank of Columbia for 21 years
The celebration of the life of Ivy R. French will be Saturday, February 4, 2006, at 3:00 p.m., at Grissom Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Bro. Terry White will officiate. At her request, cremation was chosen.

The family will receive friends after 12:00 noon on Saturday, prior to the service.

Lucky Seven have no opposition in primary or general election

Taylor County economic turnaround led by John Chowning

Adair Countians don't have to be reminded how bad things got when Fruit Of The Loom shut down. What is interesting today is how Taylor County has rebounded. Their city is not just back from the devastation of FTLs shutdown, it is back even better. Campbellsville and Taylor County are doing so well economically that they are receiving national attention as a prototype of a community turnaround.

LETTER: Family asks why memorial cross for slain Melson Ridge men removed

Cross honored Jimmy George and Billy Melson, who were victims of double homicide on July 14, 1991. Writer's sister found the cross "discarded like garbage".
I'm writing this story in regards to a wooden cross that was torn down in the Melson Ridge Community of Adair County.

I'm not sure if any of you remember the double homicide that took place on July 14, 1991 but one of the men that was murdered was my father, Jimmy George and the other fellow was Billy Melson.

Make no mistake--the winter of 1812-1813 was brutal, and few men suffered more from its severity than did Captain John W. Shirley's company of volunteer foot soldiers, under the command of Lt. Col. Joseph Barbee.

Six candidates filed for Adair County Primaries by the deadline in Adair County Court Clerk Ann Melton's office, bringing the total to 63.

And the Democrats will be fielding a candidate for the 51st House of Representatives against Rep. Russ Mobley. Harold "Butch" Wheatley filed with the Secretary of State on the final day. Both are from Campbellsville. Neither will face primary opposition.
