Judge, Mayor and a door prize on agenda for first CofC meeting of year

The Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce will meet Tuesday, January 17 beginning at 11:45 A.M. at Lindsey Wilson College Dining and Conference Center.

Guest speakers will be Mayor Pat R. Bell and County Judge Executive Jerry Vaughan who will discuss the state of affairs of the City and County. A door prize will be provided by Lindsey Wilson College.

Scenic Adair County: Great Pyrenees and Little Boer Goat



2006-01-13 - Gradyville, Adair CO, KY - Photo Linda Waggener. Buddies. It's a sight seen more and more in Adair County. A Great Pyrenees dog and one of his goat friends. The fellow at his side is a little Boer goat. The dog, Sammy, is a "puppy," according to his master, Jordan Richard. In fact he is only six months old. Great Pyrenees males grow to 100 pounds and look bigger than they are. They's also called le chien de montagne or Mountain Dog. They are great guard, rescue, and therapy dogs, and very gentle--if they know you or you're in the presence of their masters. But woe be it, if you come in a stranger. It's the next thing to a polar bear attack!

Sydney Jackson Taylor, infant

Sydney Jackson Taylor, the infant daughter of Brian and Valeria Taylor, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at Norton Hospital in Louisville. Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of graveside services scheduled for Monday, January 16, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Tabernacle Cemetery.

Florida fugitive arrested in Burkesville, lodged in Adair County Regional Jail

Kentucky State Police Trooper John Hubbard arrested Daniel J. Porter, 43, Burkesville, KY, on Friday, January 13 at 1:05 p.m..

Porter was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant from Florida.

Driver injured after hitting roll of hay on tractor

A two-vehicle accident three miles south of Columbia on KY 61 Thursday afternoon, January 12, 2006, at 5:20 p.m.. resulted in one driver being treated and released at Westlake Regional Hospital.

Granville Littrell, 65, Albany, KY, was operating a 2003 Suzuki passenger car, traveling northbound on KY 61 and did not observe a John Deere farm tractor carrying a roll of hay, operated by James S. Woody, 53, Columbia, KY.
