Glynn Bickett, 37, dies from accidental handgun wound

An accidental death occurred shortly after noon today, Thanksgiving day, at a residence located 12 miles south of Columbia on Bird Road.

The victim, Glynn Bickett, 37, of Adair County, had been target practicing with friends when his handgun accidentally discharged, striking Bickett in the chest area.

This is the church which has helped sustain the Carl Johnson family during their travail. The pastor is Bro. John Reilly. The assistant pastor is Bro. Troy Elmore. The lay pastor is Bro. Nathan Hale. The address is: Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 452, Columbia, KY 42728. The phone number is 270-384-3259. The church is one of the largest in Adair County, with an average of 275 in the congregation each Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. worship.

Alford A. Bennett, 80, Song Leader at Old Concord UMC

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 26, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home for Alford A. Bennett, 80, who passed away Wednesday at Westlake Regional Hospital. He was retired from OshKosh and was a farmer and member of Old Concord United Methodist Church where he had served as song leader and was a Sunday School teacher.

Sherri Johnson will never forget Tuesday morning, August 9, 2005.

She started her day thinking, "Life has been so perfect."

It was, in every way. She had been happily married to her high school sweetheart for 20 years. She and Carl had two beautiful children. She had a job she loved. Carl had a stressful job, but it was his chosen career.

She was living in a beautiful new home on the crest of the hill on the Johnson ancestral farm, with a caring extended family right at hand. Faith had always played a big part in her life, and now that was perfect, with all four a very much involved part of the Trinity United Methodist Church family.

But the day would bring shattering news of her husband's massive heart attack, near death, and prospects which could have destroyed anyone of lesser faith.
