REMINDER: Adair Health Dept. walk-in flu clinic Fri., Nov. 18, 2005

Because of limited supply of vaccine at this time, Adair Health Department asks healthy individuals to wait until the next shipment is received. FluMist, inhaled vaccine will be available at that time
A walk-in flu shot clinic will be held on Friday, November 18, 2005 at the Adair County Health Department at 801 Westlake Drive. Clinic hours will start at 8:00 a.m. to 2:30, or until vaccine supply is exhausted.

McDonalds honored for being smoke free

Adair Smoking Rate for adults is same as for Kentucky, 31%

But Adair County has lower rate of adult smokers than 10-County Lake Cumberland Area Health District
The smoking rate in Adair County, for adults, is 31%, according to the Kentucky Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation Status Report, 203, prepared by UK and the Kentucky Department of Public Health, Jelaine Phillips of the Lake Cumberland Area Health Department, Columbia, KY, reports.

Good Litter News from The Coordinator: BTPM has fallen dramatically

November litter has averaged only 9.14 Bags of Trash Per Mile, down from 25.32 BTMP through October 31, 2005
In what appears to be a good trend, the amount of trash being collected from roadways in Adair County appears to be less. The average number of Bags of Trash Per Mile (BTPM) has now fallen, overall, to 19.35, from the 25.32 BTPM figure released through October 31, 2005

From October 31, 2005, to November 15, 2005, an additional 94.2 miles have been cleaned, with 861 - 30 gallon bags filled. The November BTPM is down to 9.14, an impressive improvement, though much of the drop might be attributed to the amount of travel on the roads being cleaned.
