New KY 61 South toward Interchange

2005-11-03 - Columbia, KY - Photo Staff. From the top of the hill on the KY 61-side, northside of land taken from the Dr. Ben and Margaret Arnold farm, the leveling and straightening is evident. The road running left to right across the photo is old KY 61. The building on the left is Image Analysis. And the home site in the left of the photo is the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Grider. The tree to the far left, top of the photo, is at the S-curves near Grider Road. The new excavation for the roadline from the bottom to the top of the photo is near Grider Road. A deep cut will gap the road at that point. From the peak of the hill the road will go behind what was once the Adair Drive-In Theater to cross the present KY 61 at a point where the old Irvin Sneed house once stood. The Rose Construction Co. equipment staging area left center of the photo is in what was once the Travis Coomer ostrich range.
