Garlin, Adair County, KY's Jim Richards was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in the Hall of Champions at Western Kentucky University at a brunch on Saturday morning, October 15, 2005.

When he received the honor as a coach, he was the second Western Kentucky University Head Coach from Adair County to join the elite circle. Gradyville, Adair County, Kentucky's E.A. Diddle was the first member of the WKU Athletic Hall of Fame.

Parks family discovers 'home' on ColumbiaMagazine.com



2005-10-16 - Columbia, KY - Photo courtesy. ANGELA PARKS wrote and said chills came over her when she discovered news of "home" on this website while searching the internet from their Florida Air Force Base location. She took time out to write about her family life in the Air Force. Angela is the wife of Derrick Parks and is the daughter of Phil and Delores Parrish and the big sister of Tabitha, Tanya, and Stephanie. She is employeed at the Tyndall Child Developement Center and working on her degree in Early Childhood Education. Husband Derrick, 23, works for the United States Air Force. He is a Staff Sargent DCC (Dedicated Crew Chief) at Tyndall AFB, Florida. Angela and Derrick have a three-year-old son, Damian. Ten-foot statue of Ed Diddle to be unveiled November 19, 2005

A ten-foot statue of Adair County's E.A. Diddle, will be unveiled on November 19, 2005.

The statue will be placed in front of Western Kentucky University's E.A. Diddle Arena. It will feature the famous red towel Mr. Diddle was famous for waving at exciting moments in Hilltopper games.

James-Younger book author Paul Saeli wants more Columbia information

Author Paul Saeli of West Seneca, NY, is researching a book about the James-Younger gang which will emphasize their activity in Kentucky.

"The Columbia robbery is one of my primary interests," he writes, and sends a few photographs he has collected of early images of the town square.

Roadside cleanup continued on Saturday, with West 900 completed

Trash removal was a six-day-week effort for county crew
Adair County Solid Waste Coordinator Arvist L. Sinclair reports that his cleanup crew worked Saturday, October 15, 2005, on West KY 900.

The West 900 is the road between Glens Fork, KY, and Cundiff-on-Melson Ridge.

Kentucky State Trooper Nathan Carey is investigating a one-vehicle accident which occurred 3.5 miles north of Albany on US 127, on Saturday, October 15, 2005.
