Luther Owen Frankum, 86, Fairplay Mason

Services will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home for Luther Owen Frankum of the Fairplay community. He passed away Saturday at his home after a short illness.

He was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ in Campbellsville, a member of Morrison Lodge #76 in Elizabethtown and was a farmer and retired construction worker who worked on projects including the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center, Wolf Creek Dam and Fort Knox.

Poet reads latest, The Columbia Square



2005-10-02 - Columbia, KY - Photo Staff. Poet Hershel Harmon gave an impromptu reading of his newest poem, The Columbia Square Sunday morning, October 2, at a local restaurant coffee room. The poem brings back memories of times when street preachers lined up to speak on Saturdays at the Adair County Courhouse in mid-Twentieth Century days.

LETTER: German Comer blazed trail of hellfire and damnation from Toria to Texas

Famous Adair County evangelist was known as "The Kentucky Wonder" and "The Dixie Fire-Ball"
As best as I can tell, German "G.P." Comer (1904-1989) earned his titles of The Kentucky Wonder & The Dixie Fire-Ball. He blazed a trail of hellfire and damnation from Toria to Texas and back, several times.

Justice Center Project Development Board selects short lists

Record number of architect/engineers and construction manager proposals received. Short list vendors will receive invitation to make presentation to board meeting October 25, 2005
The Adair County Justice Center Project Development Board (PDB) selected short lists for financial advisors, construction managers, and architect/engineer at its second meeting, Tuesday, September 27, 2005 meeting .

The PDB also received and read one property proposal for the site.

Adair Band sweeps Lake Cumberland Marching Invitational

Band's victory is complete. Group wins every possible top award in 12-band event at Russell Springs. Band takes "all the hardware on the table"
"We won every award we could possibly win," Tim Allen, Director of the Adair County Marching Band, said after the group's sweep of awards at the Lake Cumberland Marching Invitational at Russell County High School on Saturday.

Child runs into pathway of vehicle; five-year-old suffers non-life threatening injuries

Five year old Brayden Rogers of Gravel Switch was injured in an accident which occurred at 8:20 p.m., September 30, 2005, on KY 243 in the limits of Gravel Switch, KY.
