Houseboat blocks traffic on Square for over one hour

This is one incident which very much illustrates the need for the new Bypass - COUNCILMAN CHARLES GRIMSLEY

Three comments follow this story. Last one says, "Great Post! All the questions are pertinent andneed answers---although, I doubt they will be.The local politicians seem to never ask questions like yours--they are more interested in tackling issues like skateboarding and lawn mowing."
Downtown Columbia's traffic flow was disrupted for over an hour on Tuesday, afternoon, September 27, 2005, when a semi truck pulling an 80-ft Somerset houseboat tied traffic for over one hour when it tried to exit the Square onto Campbellsville Street

Mike Keltner took this photo of the semi towing a 80 ft. houseboat as it made one of four forward and backward maneuvers to redirect the rig into the opposite direction of normal traffic flow to allow it to escape the Square and continue north. The tractor nose is at the north, or Greensburg Street, entrance to the courthouse.

Adair Schools supplies packed for delivery to help Paducah, KY teachers

Every school in the Adair County School District participated in an SUV load of supplies which will go to Paducah to aid teachers whose classes have greater needs because of new students there after the Katrina disaster.

KSP cadet trooper testing dates set for June 2006 Academy class

Applications can be picked up as close as Kentucky State Police Post 15, located at the intersection of the Louie B. Nunn Parkway (Exit 49) and Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY; test center as close as National Guard Armory, Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY
Frankfort, KY. September 26, 2005. The Kentucky State Police (KSP) will hold written and physical agility tests for cadet trooper positions from October-December at locations statewide. A KSP Academy class is tentatively scheduled for June 2006.

Adair group sending supplies to Paducah teachers with Katrina students
