The resort years of Sulphur Well, Kentucky in next door Metcalfe County have been highlighted by two guest writers who have shared their wonderful childhood memories with us. First, Don Graeter brought to life the 1950s and 60s, and here Bobby Thompson takes us back into the 40s to the same spot. In paragraphs like this one, Bobby brings to life the infamous dance hall on a Saturday night...

2005-09-25 - Columbia, KY - Photo Staff. Ricardo Hughes was on-stage at the Second Annual Gospel Sing in the Park, as more come to listen to the music, today, Sunday, September 25, 2005. The singing is sponsored by the Columbia Chrstian Church and the location is the wooded park behind the church, off Reed Street, in sight of the Adair County Courthouse clock. It will continue until 5 p.m. A nice breeze, cool weather, and the beginning leaf fall are making the event a pleasant one.

KSP Post 15 Detectives, Marion Sheriff's department investigate stabbings


Victims airlifted to Louisville; suspect arrested, lodged in Marion Detention Center; second man is sought for questioning
Two stabbing victims were airlifted to the U of L Hospital in Louisville after Kentucky State Police at Post 15, Columbia, KY, responded to a request on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 3:17 p.m., Eastern Time, to investigate a situation involving two people at 255 Fishers Creek Road, Lebanon, KY.

Upon arrival, the officers found two men lying on the ground with stab wounds.

19-year-old flown to UK Medical Center following KY 90 crash

Late-night accident occurs 12 miles west of Burkesville
Justin Moore, 19, Marrowbone, KY, was transported to Cumberland County Hospital Emergency Room and was then flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center following a one car accident on Kentucky 90 in Cumberland County.

The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. (2230 hours), Saturday, September 24, 2005, 12 miles west of Burkesville, KY, on KY 90.

James E. Sharp, 84

James E. Sharp, 84, 1260 Fairplay RD, Columbia, KY, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2005, at 1:50 p.m., at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. William Davenport and Bro. John Reilly officiating.

Dr. Steve Aaron eulogized by friends, remembered by many at Saturday service

The large chapel at Highlands Funeral Home in Louisville was not big enough to hold the crowd of relatives and friends wanting to pay their last respects to William Stephen Aaron, a man who blazed like a shooting star in and out of our fields of vision. His close friend since Centre College days, Greensburg native Bill Gorin, had said, "I never went anywere with Steve Aaron where at least one person didn't know him, whether it was over to Wal-Mart or to Mexico."

Drill Sergeant Kevin Burton called to active duty; now at Ft. Knox
Sgt. Kevin Burton has been called from the army reserves to active duty for one year in Fort Knox Ky.

He is a Drill Sgt. and is training troops to go to Iraq.
