Wallace T. Hughes, 80, WWII Veteran, Mason

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2005 at noon at Grissom Funeral Home for Wallace T. Hughes who died Monday at the home of his daughter. He will be buried with military honors presented by VFW Post 6097. Masonic rites will be held Friday evening at 7 p.m. by Columbia Lodge 96.

Kentucky Performance Report Shows Local District Making Gains toward KCCT Goals

The Adair County school district posted a substantial 3.5 overall point gain in its total academic index at the midpoint of the third biennium of the Commonwealth Accountability Testing System (CATS), according to information released this week by Commissioner Gene Wilhoits office.

Kentucky's jobless rate drops in August to 5.4%

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 21, 2005) - August's 5.4 percent marked the first timein nine months that Kentucky's seasonally adjusted preliminary unemploymentrate has fallen, according to the Office of Employment and Training, anagency of the Education Cabinet. August's rate declined from the July 2005rate of 5.9 percent but was still above August 2004's jobless rate of 5.1percent.
