Adair County Fiscal Court Regular Monthly Meeting, September 13, 2005

County to help Sheriff Cheatham get rid of unwanted cow. Court to proceed with bidding for new voting machines. On Judge Pro-Tem Wid Harris recommendation "false alarm" alarm ordinance will get more study. Court to let out-of-county veterinarians sell dog tags. County will join city in seeking Community Economic Growth Grant. Dennis Selby, Gary Burton, Chester Whittington, and Ruth Redmon approved for jail staff. Scooter Lane, Wagonwheel Road, and Combest Lane, private passages get blue-sign approval

In tonight's Adair County Fiscal Court Meeting, the magistrates voted 7-0 to bury the cow which has become a ward of Sheriff Steve Cheatham, and, he reported, a nuisance.

The burial will take place after the cow is humanely destroyed.

Remembering Leonard Bell



2005-09-13 - Columbia, KY - Photo courtesy of Bell family. The Adair County performing arts scene lost a giant, a community treasure, when Leonard Bell was killed in an automobile accident Sunday morning, September 11, 2005, in Lincoln County, KY. Mr. Bell taught music to hundreds of students all over Central Kentucky. He was an incomparable choir director, who organized and directed the Lindsey Wilson College Gospel Choir, the Adair County Community Workshop Choir, and similar choirs in other small towns. As a personal performer, it was said he was better than Ray Charles.

Adair Co. Board of Education Agenda Regular September 15, 2005 meeting

The Adair County Board of Education agenda for it regular September 5, 2005 meeting includes approval of payments for construction on the new Adair County Elementary School totalling over $400,000, approval of a working budget, a discussion of future action on the Athletic Buildign, a technology report, and the use of the band room by a church group, among other items.

The meeting is open to the public.

Loose gravel blamed for Campbellsville men's accident in Gravel Switch

Driver taken by private vehicle to University of Louisville Hospital following pickup truck accident
Joseph J. Knopp, 28, Campbellsville, KY, was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital following a one-vehicle accident which took place at 9:15 p.m. (2115 hours), on Monday, September 12, 2005, on Roller Knob RD, two miles north of Gravel Switch.

A passenger, James Kinder, 28, Campbellsville, KY, refused treatment.

Mr. Howell is one of tens of thousands across the state of Kentucky and nearby states who had come to know and love this warm-hearted man who could move audiences with his music in ways few others, ever, could do.
