Earlier this year, Google started letting consumers view satellite and aerial-photography images through its free Maps service. Now, it offers Google Earth for a small annual fee. The site presents aerial views with search results, and it allows a low-level flythough of 3D terrain. Microsoft's MSN Virtual Earth is free and has aerial views with search results. It's closeups are so clear that you can read the names on store fronts.

Rogers Scholars reunion



2005-08-16 - Somerset, KY - Photo courtesy of The Center. ADAIR COUNTY WAS WELL REPRESENTED IN THE ROGERS SCHOLARS REUNION. Founders of The Center for Rural Development Hilda Legg and Congressman Rogers (in front, center) were joined by Columbians Chelsea Luckey, Joanne Luckey, Laura Walker, Brandon Harvey and Jacob Edwards. From surrounding counties, those in attendance included: Taylor Countians Emily Reynolds, Laura Chandler, Kristen Dowling, Merdith Angel and Brooke Bell; Casey Countians Drew Carey and Bryan Buis; Green Countian Randy Buckner; Russell Countians Jordan Brown, Amity Hubbard, Jonathan Kelly and Morgan Carnes; Metcalfe Countians Jordan Estes and Daniel Bragg; and Andrew Sharp from Cumberland County.

Sallie Caldwell Edwards, 96, Milltown native

Services will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at 1 p.m. in Louisville for Sallie Caldwell Edwards. She is a native of Milltown in Adair County who passed away Saturday, August 13. She was a homemaker and a member of Milltown Baptist Church.

Charles B. Pickett, 83, Army Veteran of WWII

Graveside services were held at Crown Hill Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati for Charles B. Pickett who died on August 4, 2005. He was a native of Adair County, the son of the late Noel T. and Mary Rogers Pickett.

Rogers encourages scholars to be original thinkers, problem solvers, leaders

Chelsea Luckey and Jacob Edwards of Adair County were elected to a committee to be involved in planning future Rogers Scholars events, reunions and curriculum.
SOMERSET, KY The Center for Rural Development in Somerset announced that the first Saturday in August will be dedicated to graduates of the Rogers Scholars program at a recent luncheon. The luncheon marked the first annual Battle of the Scholars Rogers Scholars Reunion.

The 2005 reunion was an exciting afternoon full of crazy games, fun and great prizes. Fifth District Congressman Hal Rogers, for whom the program was named, was keynote speaker.
