Columbia, KY (April 11, 2005) Two Kentucky residents have been elected president and vice president of the Lindsey Wilson College Student Government Association for the 2005-06 school year.

Corey Zoeller of Louisville was elected president, and Dustin Beard of Bowling Green was elected vice president.

Kentucky Youth Advocates at Kid's Day in Frankfort



2005-04-11 - Frankfort, KY - Photo courtesy State of Kentucky photographers. KIDS DAY AT THE CAPITAL 2005 was so successful that the Kentucky Youth Advocacy group has announced it's planning to do it again a year from now and they are recruiting volunteer lobbyists. There's only one Columbia face in the 'Where's-Waldo' style photo above, Linda Waggener, a couple of faces to the left of the middle posters. Her term ended with this event in Frankfort and the position for a new area KYA Fellow is now open for volunteers. For more information on Kentucky Youth Advocacy, call 270-384-3979.

Constable Kenneth Downey arrested on drug trafficking charges

After receiving a tip from the jail, the Columbia Police Department arrested Kenneth W. Downey, 45, of Columbia, this morning on the heels of a joint investigation between the Police Department and the Adair County Regional Jail.

Downey, who works for the Adair County Road Department and is also an elected Adair County Constable, was giving Class D State Inmate workers illegal drugs while they were on work details at the County Road Garage.

Historic encounter: Bill Clinton meets Jonathan Morris

Yesterday, on ABC news website, it was reported that former President Bill Clinton will spend two years promoting tsunami recovery in Southeast Asia.

When the former President was in Thailand in February, 2005, Jonathan Morris, a member of the Gradyville Community and the son of Adair natives Jack Morris and the late Judy Baker Morris, had a chance to talk with Mr. Clinton.

Columbia gas seller takes a top spot on Kentucky gas prices website

  • High gas prices are a concern to most drivers, survey shows
Apparently record high gas prices have been a concern to drivers across the Commonwealth, as a website, kentuckygasprices.comnow tracks prices in Kentucky.

At 7:00 a.m. this morning, a Columbia station was in first place in the high price category at kentuckygasprices.com. It's listed in the Campbellsville area, but the station's address is Columbia, KY. This information came to us from Ken Smith, Flat Woods, Greenup Co., KY.
