Nancy R. Day, 69, Columbia, KY, died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at 4:45, at her residence.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 10, 2005, at 2:30 p.m., at Grissom Funeral Home with Bro. Terry White and Bro. Raymond Martin officiating.

Janice Holt Giles' 100th birthday party

Janice Holt Giles 100th birthday was celebrated with a tea at the Library named in her honor recently. The Janice Holt Giles and Henry Giles Foundation was proud that the event was well attended by the community. They welcomed special guest Mr. Mike Hughes from Texas who, as a student, was given an English assignment on a Kentucky authorand he chose Janice Holt Giles. After writing his paper they became close friends. She invited the young man to come and visit her in Kentucky. Mike said that the experience was something that he still treasures to this day! The Foundation presented Mrs. Irene Love, at right, who portrayed Hannah Fowler from Janice Holt Giles' novel by that name. Click 'read more' for the full story.

Tip leads KSP to Green County marijuana arrest

Acting on a tip today, Thursday, April 7, 2005, Trooper Dewayne Holder and Trooper Andy Olson of the Kentucky State Police made a drug arrest in Green County.

Joseph M. Marshall, 41, Greensburg, was arested at his residence 1/2 miles south of Greensburg on KY 61. at 6:48 p.m.

Meth lab discovery results in one arrest

A meth lab was located during a search of an apartment near the Spring Creek Airport in Clinton County. Maria Braswell, age 19, of Albany was arrested at the scene and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, first degree.

Giles Foundation celebrates Janice Holt Giles' 100th birthday

On March 20, 2005 the Janice Holt Giles and Henry Giles Foundation celebrated Janice Holt Giles 100th birthday with a tea at the Janice Holt Giles Memorial Regional Library, better known as the Adair County Public Library. Janice was born March 28, 1905. She later married a local boy from Knifley, Henry Giles.

Detective Alex Wesley arrests Green County man in arson case

  • David W. Hedgespeth faces multiple charges, including attempted murder
  • Charges grow out of January fire which left Joseph Roution with second degree burns
Arson Investigator Alex Wesley arrested 26-year-old David W. Hedgespeth of Greensburg at 10:23 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at the Green County Sheriff's Office.
