Columbia City Council April 4, 2005: Rescue Squad request for aid delayed Photos, Bill Corbin, Bill Corbin and Council, with this report Bill Corbin of the Adair County Rescue Squad was the only citizen to ask for a spot on the April 4, 2005, Columbia City Council agenda. Mr. Corbin had requested, in March, that the City blacktop the portion of the street to the Rescue Squad Building which is in the City. He was told then that the city ordinance relating to such work requires that streets accepted into the city system be blacktopped and deeded to the city. Truck accident in Russell County takes life of teen driver Curtis Highfield, 18, Jabez, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Russell County Coroner, as the result of an accident which occurred Monday, April 4, 2005, at 1:05 p.m., on Richardson Road, three miles north of Jabez, KY. Two passengers in the 1989 Chevrolet truck Mr. Highfield was operating, , James R. Daves, 19, Jabez, and Thomas A Stone, 16, Jabez, were not injured.
