I do believe the Mark Twain writing while in Columbia is not true. He grew up in Florida, Missouri. His home was in Missouri he worked in a newspaper office of his brother and later on a riverboat.

Dr. Steve Aaron is new Medical Director of Medicaid Services for Kentucky


Dr. Aaron retired from surgery practice in 2002

Dr. Steve Aaron has accepted the appointment as Medical Director of Medicaid Services for the State of Kentucky.

The new Director is the son of Jessie Reeves Aaron and the late Dr. Oris Aaron of Columbia, KY.

New Council appointee June Parson familar with city government


  • Mother was Mayor of Jeffersonville for three terms
  • She's worked with city governments with Gateway ADD
  • Husband is past Executive Director of Lake Cumberland ADD
In appointing June Parson to fill the vacancy on the Columbia City Council left by the death of Mayor Pro-tem Louise Hutchison, Mayor Pat Bell has selected a person with a deep background in business, civic affairs, and government.

Mrs. Parson has operated her business, Central Bookkeeping Services, Inc., for 18 years in Columbia.
