A tribute to Charles Barnes, long time Chamber board member

Recently I have had the opportunity to work with Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce. Later in the year, there will be three members whom terms will be expiring as Chamber Board of Directors. Earlier this week, I found myself sitting down with one of these Board Members, Charles Barnes whose term will expire December 31, 2009 after serving two terms on the Board.

Chamber already has nine community yard sale locations

City wide yard sales for Labor Day expanded to County-wide; Adair Magistrates have secured nine locations already for big Labor Day weekend affair

Nine locations for set-ups have not been registered with the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce for the County-wide Yard the Chamber is sponsoring Friday, September 4, Saturday, September 5, and Monday, Labor Day September 7, 2009. So far, at least one location is available in every district except District No. 5. To have your yard listed for mention in the media, contact the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce, 201 Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY, phone (270) 384-6020. CJE Ann Melton had requested the maigistrates secure the locations at the August 11, 2009 meeting of Fiscal Court. So far, the response has been outstanding.

Coach Oliver will speak at Aug. 18, 2009 Chamber luncheon

This meeting is at the Columbia United Methodist Church

The Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2009, beginning at 11:45amCT at the Columbia United Methodist Church. 202 Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY.

Luncheon reservations must be made at the Chamber Office, 201 Burkesville Street or call (270) 384-6020 not later than 4:00pm on Friday, August 14, 2009. The meal will be catered by Barbara Overstreet at a cost of $7.00 per person, payable at the door.

Guest speaker will be Chris Oliver, football coach at Lindsey Wilson College, and will be introduced by Dr. Ronald Rogers. Chamber Golf Tournament is June 18, 2009 at The Pines

The 7th Annual Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament, Thursday, June 18, 2009 at1:00pmCT, at the The Pines at Lindsey Wilson, 275 Country Club Road, Columbia, KY. Rain date June 25, 2009.

The cost to play is $35.00 per person-and the price is well worth the money! Not only will you get to enjoy a fun day of golfing, chances to win prizes on individual holes, and the top three teams will take home prize money. Don't miss your opportunity to be a part of this great event!

The tournament will be a blind draw scramble with a pairing of all A Players. Anyone interested in playing in the scramble can sign up now. Players must be signed up by 12:00noonCT.
