A wee tidbit of Bank of Columbia history 2023-06-01 - Columbia, KY - Photo courtesy JIM. JIM writes, "This notice appeared in the May 7, 1866 edition of The Louisville Daily Journal (one of the forerunners of the Courier-Journal). The notice reads: IN ORDER TO A SPEEDY ORGANIZATION OF the Deposit Bank of Columbia, Kentucky, there will be an election of Directors and other officers of said Bank at the law office of Garnett & Baker, in said town, on the 14th day of May, 1866. The stockholders in said Bank, and all others interested, will please attend. JESSE MURRELL JAMES GARNETT SINCLAIR WHEAT THOS. M. FRAZER CLAYTON MILLER THOS. T. ALEXANDER Commissioners Over a century and half later, most of the names are known by those familiar with Adair County history." Permalink | Comments?
