Travel: Candy Cliffs (Yant Flat)

2023-05-10 - Leeds, Utah - Photo by Robert Ellis, Robert Ellis Woodworking.
Robert writes, "This hidden gem in Utah is about 40 miles from St. George. The 8 1/2 mile road from Leeds is gravel, up a mountain with the last 1/2 mile turning into a strictly rutted, dirt road.

The hike is about 2 1/2 miles, out and back, across Yant Flat Plateau. It's a relatively easy hike, with the exception of one section being sand that you have to slog through.

The views, colors and majesty of this place are hard to put into words, let alone capture in a photograph.

It was late evening when we visited, and aware of the return hike back to the car and the drive back down the mountain...before nightfalls, we limited our exploring to just this one spot. Beyond the colorful peak at the left (if you look close enough you can see people sitting on it) lies more of these rock formations!"
