Remembering Dick Knight, 87, Columbia, KY

After spending years vacationing at Lake Cumberland, Dick and Mary knight bought a small farm in Columbia and moved here permanently in 1993. This is a Columbia Magazine archive photo from 2020 at an event for the Homeplace on Green River.

He was very creative and his career as an engineer was remarkable before retiring to Adair County. He was known as the ultimate do-it-yourselfer and kept busy building home and shops, maintaining the land, and collecting interesting things, especially Oliver Tractors.

Dick loved to have friends and family visit the farm to share his passion for tractors and all things farm related including the family dogs and cats. He was very patient and taught his kids and grandkids the skills needed to navigate life successfully.
