Blue the Cat vs great big Blue Heron

2020-09-24 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.

A standoff occurred between Blue the Cat, a bird hunter, vs a big Blue Heron trying to fish Columbia's Town Creek.

It was fascinating to watch the huge bird glide gracefully on its wide wingspan into the little Town Creek that flows across this acre. Settled, then letting the water settle, it begins to observe food possibilities.

Slowly Blue the Cat begins to creep into the picture - in full bird hunting mode - which slowed and then halted when he got close enough to realize the size of the Heron. For a moment they stared at each other, taking each other's measure.
