Mike Harris beams as he's recognized for service to AC Schools

2018-05-19 - Adair County Board of Education Conference Room, 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
It was a happy occasion for Mike Harris at the Thursday, May 17, 2018 meeting of the Adair County Board of Education. He was given a certificate of appreciation and the plaque that was displayed in front of his chair on the dais. He was honored for the enormous contributions he made during the most transformative years in the history of Adair County Schools. He said, "Thank you all very much. I've served my time and I'm going home." His wife Laura, who was with him, said, "He really did enjoy his time on the school board and took a lot of pride in it. We can look back over the 18 years - he started when our kids were in kindergarten - and the campus doesn't look like the same place because so much has been accomplished. Thank you all." Harris continues his support of education and is devoting as much time as ever to improving the community. He now lives in Downtown Columbia, which he has done as much to preserve and transform as any living in Adair County. - EW
