Puppy Portrait: Queensland Heeler, Lu, at two

2018-02-13 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Lu has become quite the local celebrity at two years of age. Her Queensland Heeler breed is known for its intelligence and its fierce loyalty. Lu has those qualities. In one of her favorite places, the backseat of Junior Stotts' truck, her eyes were focused on him, ready to do whatever he asked. She likes to "talk" and to do tricks. She can walk on her back legs, like the human she almost is, for 30-40 feet. On trips around town, she likes to help with Stotts Construction projects, to drive through Hardees, and Adair Prescription Shoppe, where she has fan clubs, and to take control of her surroundings. She can't drive the truck yet, but she has mastered many of the controls in it. Childproof measures had to be taken to prevent her from rolling down her window whenever she liked. Junior says Lu can also tell a thief, that she has an inherent sense of that type of criminal, and even he can't stop her from growling when a thief is near. Maybe she's the smartest dog in Adair County. For sure Lu is a Top Ten. - EW
