VFW Post 6097 presents $1,000 Walmart gift to AC Little League

Columbia VFW Post 6097 presented a $1,000 check from Wal-Mart to the Adair County Little League at their regular 6pmCT, second Thursday monthly meeting, last night, August 10, 2017. In Front are VFW Members Ray Hawthorn, Joe Coffey, Fred Troutman, Ronald Burton, Greg Austin, and Tommy Corbin. Second row: Larry K. Burton, Travis Giles, Chad Wheat (Little League), VFW Post Commander Joe Hare, Randy Burns (Little League) Dallas Holt, David Smith, Dick Scholl, and Ken Edwards. Back row, Peter Trumpis, Adam Darnell, J.C. VanArsdale, Orvis Grider,, Robin Woodrum, Lee Graves, R.T Gossett, Gary Melton, Charles Green, and Samuell Hughes. Commander Hare said that the VFW applied to Walmart for the grant, and Walmart requested they present the check to the Adair County Little League. He noted that the VFW membership has been rising. There are currently 73 members, up 13 in the past year. - EW
