MSI Artisans Steve Hancock, Max Hadley work on bar surround

2017-06-19 - Morgan Smith Industries, LLC, 132 Industrial Park Road, Columbia, KY - Photo by Steve Jones, Morgan Smith, LLC, Columbia, KY.

Steve Hancock, left, and Max Hadley, both Artisans in the Custom Shop area of MSI, work on the bar surround for the W XYZ Bar at the Aloft Hotel - Louisville East. The surround is so tall that it had to be preassembled in the plant on its back. Once it was assembled and tested, if was disassembled and shipped to Louisville. One of the challenges our Engineers face is how to take a very large object designed by the Architect, such as this surround, and structure it in such a way that it can be fully test assembled in house, then broken down into pieces small enough to ship and to go through a 6 foot by 7 foot door opening at the site and then be reassembled and appear that is all one finished piece. - STEVE JONES, MSI
