Casey County teachers honored at CU for Excellence in Teaching

Casey County School awards were presented at CU's Excellence in Teaching ceremony to Shelly Hill, Jones Park Elementary School; Julie Hayes, Casey County Middle School; and Susan Stringer, Casey County High School. From left in the photo are: Dr. Donna Hedgepath, vice president for academic affairs; Susan Stringer; and Dr. Beverly Ennis, dean of the Campbellsville University School of Education. Hill is a 4th grade teacher at Jones Park Elementary School, where she has been teaching since 2004. She graduated in 1987 from Casey County High School. In 2002, she obtained her Master in Education (K-6, LBD K-12). She is married to Jeff Hill and has three children: Allison Sellers, Chase and Emily. Hayes teaches 7th grade Language Arts at Casey County Middle School. She graduated from Fulton County High School in 1989. Then, she obtained a BA in 1993 from Murray State University. In 2004, she achieved another bachelor’s degree, but this time from Eastern Kentucky University, same school where she obtained her first master’s in 2007. Her second master’s degree she achieved in 2011 when she graduated from University of The Cumberlands. She is married to Breece Hayes and they have three children: Breece, Benton and Brenna. Stringer teaches AP Calculus, College Algebra, College Trigonometry, and Algebra 2 at Casey County High School, where she has been teaching since 1991. She graduated from Russell County High School in 1987, and obtained her Bachelor in Math in 1991 from Campbellsville University. In 1994, she obtained a Master in Math Education from Western Kentucky University. In 2001, she achieved a Rank 1 in Math Education; and in 201 she obtained her Principal Certification. Her parents are Rena and Ivan Bennett from Russell Springs, KY. She is married to Barry Stringer, and they have four children: Travis, Shelby, Trace and Tanner.
