Sewer expansion in Green River Commerce Park virtually done

2017-03-22 - Green River Commerce Park, Industrial Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. This lift station on Robin Wilkerson land in Green River Commerce Park, is complete, as is a natural gas line crossing, and all of the pipe installation for a major sewer expansion in the park. The final step before the system goes online will be three street crossings on Industrial Drive, which will be complete as soon as all four participants agree to contribute approximately $2,500-$3,000 for directional bores which were not included in the original bid. Both Robin Wilkerson and the Columbia/Adair County Economic Development Authority have agreed to the extra cost; the plan awaits authorization by Adair County Fiscal Court and the City of Columbia, to proceed. Deep cut trenches could have be used at no additional costs, but the parties already agreeing to the extra cost think that those cuts would have been noticed by prospects, who might have a negative feeling about locating in the Park, if they were to notice subsidence and an inadvertent speed bump resulting from the deep cut trenches. - EW
