Historic Moment: First City of Columbia ABC license

2016-06-29 - Five Star, 802 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c).
Maggie Zimmerman, left, at the Five Star, 802 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY, holds the state ABC Malt Beverage License for her store awaiting the presentation of the very first City of Columbia ABC license from Rhonda Loy, City of Columbia, Alcohol Beverage Control Administrator. With the delivery of license and the inspection of certificates of S.T.A.R. (Server Training in Alcohol Regulations), Adminstrator Loy said that the store could start selling malt beverages as soon as it is ready to do so. Zimmerman said that she is expecting product deliveries in the morning, and that sales could start as early as 7am-12pmNoon CT. Columbia is served by Smith Bros. Distributing in Bardstown, KY and Clark Distributing of Bowling Green, KY, located in Oakland, KY. Today a representative of Smith Bros. was setting up a Budweiser sales promotion, and today, several customers had come in to buy, but were told to come back tomorrow for beer. The photo was taken in front of the stores newly built "beer cave." - EW
