LWC History students visit Abbey of Gethsemani

Students in Lindsey Wilson College Assistant Professor of History Elizabeth Tapscott's "History of Christianity" class visited the historic Abbey of Gethsemani on Friday, February 26. The students had read and discussed The Rule of St Benedict before visiting the abbey in Nelson County, KY The Cistercian brothers at the historic Kentucky abbey - which was once the home of the 20th-century Catholic thinker Thomas Merton - follow the rules outlined in the 6th-century book. A member of the abbey spoke to the LWC students about living a contemplative life, and the students also joined the brothers for the daily noon service.
