Piper aircraft after emergency landing in Russell County, KY

Themie Shepherd drove from his home in Royville a short distance to the site of the emergency landing that was safely executed by Charles Monette of Versailles, KY. Monette had exited the plane and was standing a distance away. When first responders arrived they found him alert, but in need of medical attention. He was taken to Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY, for treatment. The crash was investigated by Russell County Sheriff Clete McAninch. Other first responders, in addition to the Russell County Sheriff's Office, were the Russell County EMS, Russell Springs Fire Department, Russell Springs Police Department, Kentucky State Police & the Russell County Sheriff's Department, Kentucky State Police. Sheriff McAninch said, in a news release, that the FAA do a followup. "Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are scheduled to arrive early next week to investigate the cause of the engine malfunction," he said.
