KY Transportation Cabinet District 8 studying Bypass safety

2015-03-31 - Near Adair County Veterans Memorial Bypass/KY 61 bypass - Photo by CM contributing photographer. Survey crews from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 8, Somerset, KY, have been studying changes to make the Adair County Veterans Bypass at the Burkesville Street/Road intersection safer, and have been very busy in the past few days, since the March 29, 2015 two vehicle collision which cost the lives of three people. This unit of the safety team was seen the intersection yesterday. (Note from photographer One new spin on the solution to the problem proposed by the photographer: The speed limit differential on the two roads is too great at the intersection is two great. It's 55 mph on the bypass and on Burkesville Road, and 35 on Burkesville Street, making it very difficult for drivers entering the intersection to judge the speed of ongoing or crossing vehicles. )
