Adair Aerospace team at Bowman Field Hangar 7

2015-02-11 - Louisville, KY - Photo Adair County School District Photo.
Adair County High School representatives were on hand at Bowman Field's "Hangar 7" on Tuesday, February 10, 2014 for the Open House and National Launch Reception of the National Air andSpace Education Institute. "Aerospace" is the newest addition to the career pathways available to students at ACHS, with the first classes set to begin in August, 2015. The program will provide a wide array of opportunities for ACHS students ranging from aircraft mechanics and repair, manufacturing, piloting, airport operation and more. Kentucky is now third in the nation in aircraft parts manufacturing, a multi-billion dollar industry that exceeds the auto manufacturing. The program is underwritten by NASA Kentucky, Eastern KY University, Morehead State University, University of Kentucky, and AOPA. ACHS is Kentucky's 27th high school to join the consortium and the first since the Air and Space Institute expanded to a national initiative. Pictured from the left: Matthew Willis, Math Instructor; Michael Godsey, Physics Instructor; Chris Janes, Columbia-Adair County Airport Board; Barb Redmon, Curriculum Resource Teacher; and Alan Reed, Superintendent.
