New Bridge over Clay Lick Creek, Glasgow ST, Edmonton, KY

2014-12-16 - Glasgow Street, Edmonton, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
A most familiar marking place for travelers from the east to Glasgow, KY, is being replaced by the Kentucky Highway Department. The old KY 80 bridge over Clay Lick Creek is seen on the far right. The new structure, underway on the left, will straighten the elbow in the road. Many can remember when "the road to Glasgow," for trips to the Howard Clinic or the hospital or the tobacco markets and Newberry's Variety Store, was considered the crookedest road travel from Columbia. The trip took well over an hour. For the past four decades on the LBN, it's a 35 minute drive on one of the prettiest four lane, limited access roads anywhere. In the photo, for orientation, Bowling Park is center, just below the skyline. Photo Sun 14 Dec 2014. - EW
