Customer Appreciation Day: A pretty fabulous soup buffet



2014-10-18 - Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo ColumbiaMagazine.com (c). There was nothing but raves for the homemade soup at the Customer Appreciation Day for the Farmer's Market on the Square on Saturday, 18 Oct 2014. Over 200 went through the line to sample the food, served but, from left in pink, Maury Lewis (aka melewi) the Burris Gang, Danny and Debbie, from D & B Longview Angus Farms, Gradyville, KY, and Rhonda Parker of Jenny Creek Farm in Greensburg, KY. The soups included Potato Soup, Chili, Cabbage Stew, Vegetable Soup, Baked Potato Soup, Chicken Noodle Soup, Vegetable Beef Soup, White Chili, Butternut Acorn Squash Soup, Chicken Rice Tortilla Soup, Minestrone Soup. There was fresh baked breads and corn muffins and a Birthday cake for Caitlin Helm for dessert. Barbara Armitage, he hostess for the occasion, said plans are already underway for one or more similar buffets next year. She said that a many called her aside to say how much the Farmers Market reminded them of street fairs they had seen in other small towns they had come to love in other states and countries. - CM
