The Changing Face of Fairground Street, Columbia, KY

The old house beyond the cyclist, at 405 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY is soon to be gone. The Adair County Extension Service is taking bids for the demolition of the site. Tony Rose, Youth Extension Agent, said that there is possible building expansion for the service in the near future. To the left of the house is Joe Pyles building supplies business, and, beyond that "Pickett House," now a part of the Lindsey Wilson Campus. In the foreground, the intersection of Spickard DR and Fairground ST marks an important entrance to the Lindsey Wilson Campus today. Cyclist and pedestrians are seen more in this area now because of the college, but the one is in photo is one of a growing number of cyclists who bike for transportation. Diane Rose, above, is commuting from the Taylor Ford RD area of Greater Garlin on a route she and husband Gary Rose regular use. Clicking Readmore accesses the demolition bid notice.
