Favorite Old Photo: Theiss Chevrolet ad

2011-07-17 - Greensburg, KY - Photo from Larry Smith collection.
Larry Smith submitted this copy of an old Theiss Chevrolet advertising piece from the 1960s, which featured a two door hardtop with sporty white sidewall tires and big wheel chrome wheel covers. Theiss Chevrolet was the located in Greensburg, KY on West Court ST, where the Green County Library/Greensburg Municipal Building is today. The car appears to be a second generation (1967-69) Chevy II, before the classic style was bopperized into a muscle car for teenagers. Corvair was Chevrolet's answer to a VW bug, had bathtub styling and a rear engine, was a gas saver good for carrying papers, and was the vehicle which launched the career of Ralph (Unsafe at Any Speed) Nader, best remembered for the disastrous effects he had on the outcomes of United States Presidential elections and consequentially, the future of humanity. Comment from Billy Joe Fudge:"I think it is a Chevelle Malibu." Elaboration on BJ Fudge ID from Brad Conover: "A 1964-1965 (probably 65) 2 door Chevelle Malibu. I owned one." Jason Cox sends the final clarification on the model, one you can take to the bank: "It is definitely a 1964 model Chevelle Malibu." He knows, he says, by the design of the grill.
