Jones Street water line post mortem examination

Columbia/Adair County Utilities District board member Rudy Higginbotham was raising section of cast iron water pipe taken from Jones Street for a look through the severely occluded water line, with plaque built up over some three-quarters of a century since its installation in WPA days. The replacement line for the short street between Greensburg and Merchant should be complete in less than two weeks, according to Columbia/Adair Utilities District (CAUD) General Manager Lenny Stone. At left is the district's attorney, Marshall Loy. The scene took place Thursday afternoon, April 14, 2011, at the board's regular monthly meeting.
