Record enrollment at Bird University

2010-02-07 - 409 Fairground ST, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Professor Barbara Armitage was the lecturer, when this photo was taken, telling the packed classroom enrolled in Birding 101 how little old Adair County, KY, would be making the Top Ten Great Backyard Bird Count list for 2010. "We were 23rd last year. In North America! That's pretty good for a county with 18,000 people, when we weren't but a few places behind Atlanta, GA, with 5 million." Approximately 60 people came for the class, which had been set up for approximately 50. Standing, in front of the classroom, right, is the other member of the Birding 101 faculty, Wendy Burt. The class was sponsored by the Adair County Garden Club, in preparation for the Great Backyard Bird Count, February 12-15, 2010.
