Daytrip: The Creelsboro Arch on the Cumberland River

2009-09-13 - Creelsboro, Russell Co., KY - Photo by Pen.
The Creelsboro Arch, Rock House or Rockhouse Bottom, is natural bridge located in Western Russell County near the ghost town of Creelsboro on the Cumberland River. A perspective on the massive 104 foot span over Jim Creek can be seen by the human figures nearby. The span is the seventh largest natural bridge in the United States. The Arch was unusually busy on Sunday, September 6, when this photo was taken, with as many as 50 visitors at a time enjoying the spectacular, 440 million year old formation. The arch is located approximately one mile from Creelsboro, KY, which is 19.2 miles from the Adair County Courthouse via Crocus and Bryan, KY. Take KY 55 south 10 miles to a slight right on KY 1313 through Crocus to Bryan where another slight right KY 1058 at Bryan to Creelsboro and then right on KY 379.
