First Tommy Yacht at Majestic Yachts

2009-08-24 - 101 Westwood DR, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
Majestic Yachts CEO Jim Hadley, in red shirt, above, was showing Columbia Mayor Pat Bell and Columbia-Adair County Economic Development Director Sue Stivers the first Tommy Yacht produced at the plant on Westwood DR. This one was shipped to a dealer in North Carolina, and has been on the Atlantic Ocean. The company is pinning hopes for a strong recovery and the reemployment of its 27 person work force from sales of the classy little houseboat, which is also a fishing boat, ski boat, and can be parked and plugged in at RV campgrounds. The craft, complete with a trailer, sells for just over $115,000. It is the getting plenty of publicity, including a second NPR segment by David Greene.
