Fifty-four year old program from past ACHS time of glory

2009-06-16 - 702 Jamestown ST, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
Eddie Kessler, a principal in Kessler Mortgage, 702 Jamestown ST, Columbia, KY, is also an Ebay specialist. He recently obtained a copy of the 1955 38th Annual Kentucky State High School Basketball Tournament Program. That was the second year Adair County High School went to the State Tournament, and was the year Adair County was runner-up to Hazard High School, led by future University of Kentucky All-American Johnny Cox. In the photo, right panel, are Coach John Burr, Lewis Pendleton, Terry Randall, Haskin Rowe, George Cheatham, Ralph Shearer, Mackie Baker, Rayburn Daugherty, Ralph McQueary, Billy Conover, and Roger Pickett. The team had an incredible 31-2 won loss record going into the tournament. One of the losses was to Central City, on a road trip after Haskin Rowe temporarily quit the team. The other was to Green County High School, in the finals of the District Tournament, when the Green County team own 59-57. Kessler is undecided about the find. He may put it on Ebay, if a prior offer doesn't seem a better option.
