Flood Jan. 28, 2009: Henson Farms Lake

2009-01-28 - Columbia Western Bypass, near Northern terminus - Photo by Ed Waggener.
What used to be corn land on Henson Farms became a lake today under the new bridge on the Columbia Western Bypass at the north end of the new road. The photo is taken from near the silo on Henson Farms, with United Citizens Bank's Campbellsville Road Branch in the center of the picture and the renovated Mike Hatcher Farms hillside holdings behind the bank. The flooding created an island, in the right hand of the photo, and an optical illusion in the fenced field on the lower left, which appears in the photo to be a rectangular pond higher than the main body of the water, but is actually on the same plane.
