Scenic Adair County: Glens Fork UMC Church

2009-01-11 - KY 900, Glens Fork, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener.
"The photo may have been taken after Christmas. It is symbolic of an act of worship for the Epiphany of the Lord observed within the United Methodist Church," writes Rev. Sheldon Alley. "The Epiphany of the Lord actually predates Christmas celebrations among Christians. It's original focus was on the nativity, incarnation, and baptism of Christ. Today the focus is recoginizing the coming of the three wise men (Magi) as they brought gifts to Christ. Despite what is common in our culture with displaying the Christmas nativity scene, the three wise men weren't actually there on the night Christ was born. They came a bit later. This scene at Glens Fork United Methodist Church Nativity Scene from the West 900 roadway made a compelling scene on a recent winter evening.
