Crewmen launch intake for Adair Co. Water Treatment Plant

The huge floating intake for the Adair County Water Treatment Plant was launched Friday, September 14, 2007. On board is Ricky Murray, Columbia, KY, and at left is installation foreman Jerry Powell. The floating intake can move up to five million gallons of water a day. The three pumps alternate, and up to two of them at a time can be operated, ACWD Superintendent Lenny Stone said. The water treatment plant is scheduled to be online around November 1, 2007. The plant is located at on Griffin Springs Road, just across the Taylor County line, approximately one mile from Coburg, Adair County, KY. Security around the installation will be extremely high, Stone said.
